Tenant participation helps us understand what services work well, where improvements are needed, and how you would like to get involved in shaping and improving them.

Our Tenant Participation Strategy sets out how we work in partnership with tenants.

Our Housing Charter report card shows how we are performing.

How to get involved

You can get involved in plenty of ways, and it doesn’t always mean showing up to meetings.

Consultations

We regularly invite tenants to take part in consultations on key issues and proposed changes.

When a consultation ends, feedback is reviewed and a report is sent to the Housing Committee, including tenants’ views and recommendations. Councillors use this to decide on any changes.

We then share the final decisions with tenants, including how your feedback was used.

Tenants’ and Residents’ Groups

Some tenants choose to become formally involved in nonregistered or registered tenants’ and residents’ groups. Becoming a Registered Tenants Organisation (RTO) gives groups a recognised role in the decision-making process. Groups are supported by grant funding.

Contact details for our RTOs are published on a public register held within the Registered Tenants Organisation section, along with the guidance and application form.

Register of interested tenants

Tenants who join the register will be contacted for their views on areas of the Housing Service that interest them. This allows you to have a say on the issues that matter to you and get involved from the comfort of your own home.

Local and Angus-wide tenants groups

If you would like to be more actively involved locally or across Angus, we can provide support and training and cover your travel expenses to attend meetings.

Tenant-led inspections

Tenant-led inspections are when tenants check how well their landlord is doing. Instead of just giving feedback, tenants take part in a simple review process—looking at things like repairs, complaints, or communication. They gather information from other tenants, look at performance data, and share their findings.

In Scotland, this links to standards set by the Scottish Housing Regulator and the Scottish Social Housing Charter, helping make sure landlords listen, improve services, and are accountable to their tenants.

Training and support will be provided to tenants taking part in tenant-led inspections, helping them understand how to review services, gather information, and share their findings clearly.

E-newsletter

Stay informed, engaged, and connected by signing up for our tenants' email newsletter.

If you are interested in any of the above opportunities then please email TenantParticipation@angus.gov.uk or call the Angus Contact Centre on 0345 777 778.
