Tenant Participation
Tenant participation gives Angus tenants a real influence over how housing services are run π‘. It helps the council understand what works well β , what needs improvement π§, and how tenants want to be involved.
Our Tenant Participation Strategy sets out how we work in partnership with tenants.
Ways to Get Involved πβοΈπβοΈ
Consultations π¬
- Tenants are asked for their views on proposed changes (e.g. rent π·, repairs π¨, policies π).
- Feedback is reviewed and reported to the Housing Committee ποΈ.
- Councillors use this to make decisions, and tenants are told how their input shaped the outcome β .
We are currently consulting on our Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP)
Tenants’ & Residents’ Groups π₯
- Local groups where tenants work together on housing issues ποΈ.
- Groups can become Registered Tenants Organisations (RTOs), giving them a formal role in decisionβmaking π’.
- RTOs can apply for grant funding π° and receive support from the council π€.
- A public register lists all RTOs and includes guidance and application forms π.
TenantβLed Inspections (Scrutiny) π
- Tenants review how well services are working—such as repairs π¨, complaints handling π, or communication π.
- They gather views, review performance data π, and share findings.
- This helps ensure services meet required standards β .
- Full training is provided π.
