We are proposing an exemption to pavement parking restrictions on Henry Street in Kirriemuir.

Read on to find out about our proposals, and give your feedback on them.

  • New restrictions on parking on pavements came into force in March 2024.

Exemptions to the restrictions are permitted. One such exemption will be the north side of Henry Street, Kirriemuir.

The road is not wide enough here to allow on-street parking and the free flow of traffic. And there are no alternative parking areas within an acceptable walking distance.

    Proposals

Ideally, parking would be moved over to the south side of Henry Street. This would allow the wider pavement on the north side to be free of vehicles and accessible for all pedestrians.

However, the pavement isn't wide enough for this.

    Our proposal is therefore to:

    • Exempt the north side of Henry Street from the pavement parking restrictions.

    • Impose a no waiting at any time restriction (double yellow lines) on both sides of the street over the first 10 metres of the west end Henry Street. This will protect access into the street from Sunnyside.

To allow enforcement of the restrictions, we will publish a Traffic Regulation Order.

Anyone can object to the Order. But it would be helpful to get the residents of Henry Street's views before the Order is published.
