Decision of Angus Council
On Tuesday 26 March 2024, the Family, Education and Justice Committee considered Report 99/24 and the outcome of a Statutory Consultation. On behalf of Angus Council, the Committee approved by majority proposals for the administrative closure of Hayshead and St Thomas Nursery Classes. In reaching this decision the Council had regard to Sections 9, 10 and 11 of the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010, as amended.
Notification and Representation to Scottish Ministers
As a result of Angus Council’s final decision made on 26 March 2024 to approve the proposal to close the Hayshead and St Thomas Nursery Classes, the Council has notified Scottish Ministers of this decision in accordance with Section 15 (2) and (2A) of the Schools Consultation (Scotland) Act 2010, as amended.
The legislation allows for any person to make representations to Scottish Ministers within three weeks of the Council taking this decision. Therefore, any representations must be made to Scottish Ministers by midnight on Monday 15 April 2024.
Anyone wishing to make representation to Scottish Ministers during the three week period referred to above should do so by email to schoolclosure@gov.scot or in writing to:
Scottish Government, School Infrastructure Unit, 2A (South), Victoria Quay, Edinburgh EH6 6QQ
The Scottish Ministers have a period of eight weeks following an authority’s decision in which to decide whether to call in the decision or not.
