Are you in favour of a speed reduction on your street?
Proposal
Following concerns highlighted by residents of Dundee Road in Forfar, we are proposing changes to the speed limit here. As part of our ongoing commitment to improving road safety and enhancing the local environment, the speed limit on Dundee Road in Forfar is potentially to be reduced from 30mph to 20mph.
Under the council’s new 20mph policy, we are considering extending this speed reduction to cover the adjoining and connecting roads.
Creating a unified 20mph area, rather than isolated stretches, prevents confusion for motorists, streamlines traffic calming, and significantly improves safety across the wider residential network. Reducing speeds in residential areas has been proven to decrease the risk and severity of traffic collisions.
This change is designed to create a safer environment for all road users, particularly pedestrians, cyclists, and children, while also encouraging active travel and reducing traffic noise.
Tell us your thoughts
Please take a few minutes to complete our short survey below
We will also be delivering letters to houses in the affected areas and looking for comments from only the residents that live on these streets.
The consultation map shows the proposed streets shaded in red which are the areas that we are looking for you to comment on. The map also shows the current 20mph areas, the part-time 20mph zone and the twenty's plenty streets to help create a better understanding of what already exists and what is proposed.
The survey can be completed online. Paper copies of the survey are available from libraries and can be handed in to any of the following places:
Forfar Community Campus
Forfar Library
Angus House reception
Next Steps
Officers will review the data and then report the findings to a relevant council committee meeting.
