Wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) are taxi or private hire vehicles which accommodate wheelchair users and their companions.
Angus Council is looking at ways to increase the number of WAVs operating in Angus. It is asking all its licensed taxi and private hire drivers and operators to give their views on the following options:
revised and discounted fee structure
removal of Angus zones limitation for WAV’s only
no requirement for passing the knowledge test should zones be removed for WAV’s only (driver’s licence)
operator licence conditions to be reviewed to implement a policy whereby an existing WAV can only be replaced with a similar type vehicle
You can read more about the options and the background to this consultation in Committee report 209/26.
The survey will close at 5pm on Friday, 30 October 2026.
Following the consultation period, a report containing the information gathered will be presented to members of the Civic Licensing Committee for further consideration, review and final determination.
