We want to understand more about the experiences of individuals who make journeys using wheelchair accessible taxis.
Background
As you may know, the council licences both drivers and operators to trade in the area. The council licences vehicles as either taxis or private hire vehicles, but in this survey ‘taxi’ refers generically to both kinds.
The TAS Partnership has been engaged to undertake this research around the experiences of local taxi users in Angus. We want to understand more about passengers’ experiences with wheelchair accessible taxis, and how far they meet different travel needs.
An accessible taxi is one designed to accommodate a passenger travelling in a wheelchair and which may have additional features to assist passengers with specific mobility needs related to physical or sensory impairment.
Getting involved
We want to hear from:
individuals who can tell us about personal experiences with taxis, including family members, friends or carers who may accompany someone on journeys, and
representatives of groups and organisations whose clients or members may require accessible taxis and have experience of organising or procuring such transport.
How to take part
We would like to invite you to participate in this short survey.
on request from Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar and Bruce House, Wellgate, Arbroath
on request from public libraries and ACCESS offices
Meantime we would appreciate if you could raise awareness to individuals and groups who may not have access to social media platforms to encourage participation in the short survey.
What happens next
The survey will be open for 4 weeks, from 18 February 2025 until 17 March 2025.
Following engagement and assessment, a report will be brought forward for consideration to the Council's Civic Licensing Committee in due course.
