Introduction
We want your views on how we can improve support for children and young people in Angus with Additional Support Needs (ASN).
The number of pupils with ASN has increased significantly in recent years. Most are supported in their local school or in schools with enhanced support, while children with the most complex needs can access places at Kingspark School in Dundee.
Supporting children and young people with a wide range of needs within their local community strengthens belonging and understanding, creates a more inclusive culture and brings wider benefits by enabling everyone to learn, participate and thrive alongside one another.
Angus Council is not proposing a new special school. Instead, we have developed a range of other options and would like your feedback on which should be explored further.
Complete the survey below. The closing date for responses is Friday 30 October 2026.
Attend one of our eight drop-in sessions, with a session taking place in each town. You are welcome to attend whichever session is more convenient for you.
Children and Young People will be provided with an opportunity to provide their views, using child friendly questions and materials, via focus groups.
What happens next
Survey findings, feedback from children and young people consultations and drop-in sessions will be gathered and presented to Family, Education and Justice Committee in January 2027, with a report on how to progress.
